Organization politics are a fact of life in virtually every workplace. Yet many people view these politics either as something repellant to be avoided if at all possible, or as a necessary evil to be grudgingly accommodated. If they do know how to “play politics,” they’ve learned surreptitiously from others, or by watching “players” and copying their (often ethically dubious) moves. None of these approaches help individuals become politically savvy, effective leaders who can implement corporate and other initiatives in a successful, sustainable, ethical manner.
